As we reminisce back to the past decade, here’s a look at 10 reboots that came out in the 2010s.

 

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

In 2010 Disney came out with their reboot of Alice in Wonderland. Alice returns to Wonderland as a 19-year-old girl this time. The movie was directed by Tim Burton and Grossed $176 Million Domestic and $1.02 Billion Worldwide.

 

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

This movie is within the top 15 highest-grossing movies of 2011. Grossing $176  Million in the U.S. and $481 Million Worldwide.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

The Amazing Spider-Man was the first Spider-Man movie to come out since Spider-Man 3 in 2007. Introducing Dr. Curt Conners / The Lizard and Gwen Stacy for the 1st time in a movie.

 

Man of Steel (2013)

Man of Steel is a complete reboot from how Superman was portrayed in the past. Previously Superman had stuck to just stopping petty crimes. However, in Man of Steel not only do they show some of his back stories but also have him save the world from General Zod.

 

Maleficent (2014)

Maleficent is a film based off of the main villain from Disney’s 1959 movie Sleeping Beauty. This film offers a backstory to Maleficent and instead of having the prince save the girl they use Maleficent to offer a completely new side to this villain. 

 

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)

2015 ended with a bang for Disney with Star Wars The Force Awakens. It’s the first Star Wars film that Disney worked on and is the highest-grossing movie of 2015 and bringing in $2.06 Billion Worldwide. 

 

Fuller House (February 26, 2016 – present)

Fuller House premiered on Netflix in early 2016. Fuller House is a reboot of the popular sitcom Full House that first aired in 1987. Fuller House follows the life of D.J. and Stephanie Tanner and their friend Kimmy Gibbler.

 

Beauty and the Beast (2017)

After the success of The Jungle Book, Moana and Zootopia, Beauty and the Beast was a  highly anticipated movie for Disney. It’s the second highest-grossing movie of 2017. Bringing in $1.26 Billion Worldwide for Disney. 

 

Charmed (October 14, 2018 – present)

Last year The CW rebooted Charmed. Charmed originally aired from 1998 – 2006. The reboot follows characters named Mel and Maggie Vera and their older sister Macy as they find out they’re witches and battle evil.

 

The Lion King (2019)

The Lion King was a highly anticipated remake for 2019. It remains to be the 2nd highest-grossing movie of this year. Grossing $858 Million Domestic and $1.65 Billion Worldwide. Starring Beyonce as adult Nala and Donald Glover as adult Simba. 

 

As the 2010s came to a close, we often look back to the
