As the NFL football season is coming to a close this weekend, opinions are flying through the air with all kinds of predictions.

It comes down to the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. While half of the fans planning on watching this game are true fans of football, there is the other half who fit into those who only watch it socially.

“I don’t care about the Superbowl, I didn’t even know who was in it,” said sophomore Ashton Selby. Being involved in the football world means staying up to date on all the details.

There are even some people who watch it for the entertainment aspect. “I watch it for the commercials,” said senior Kristin Spradlin which is a tradition every year during the Superbowl.

For some, the problem isn’t that their team isn’t playing in the Superbowl, it’s the fact that football is irrelevant until it becomes a popular topic. Watching football games on Sunday afternoon with friends and family has always been popular whether you know about the sport or not. So, if the non-football watchers want to put their opinion out they are forced to pick a team based off of what has been said.

Whether you are a football fan or not, the Superbowl will be this Sunday. So don’t be the only one who doesn’t watch it.
