The Charger football team defeated the Friendswood Mustangs 24-0 on Friday, November 3 at Friendswood High School, bringing the team to a district record of 5-1. They are now tied with Clear Lake for first in the district.

The team started off fast in the first quarter with a fumble recovery by Chance Trentman-Rosas (11), setting up a field goal by Seth Porter (12), giving the Chargers a 3-0 lead.

During the second quarter Todd Hudson (11) drove the team down the field and capped the drive off with a 12-yard touchdown run extending the Chargers lead to 10-0.

“The o-line was definitely a big factor to our success,” Peyton Sawyer (12) said. Sawyer put the Chargers in full control after catching a bubble and taking it 53 yards to the house during the third quarter.

As the game entered the fourth quarter, the Chargers were set inside the 5 yard line where Micheal Gillaspia (12) dove for a deflected ball, catching it for a touchdown, making the final score 24-0. The win puts the team into the district championship.

“The team that makes the least mistakes will take it,” Sawyer said.

The team will play Clear Lake Friday, November 10 at Challenger Columbia Stadium for the district championship and the last regular season game.
