Chargers Win District Title Two Years Straight

The Charger football team is now district champions.
The team defeated Clear Lake 35-27 on November 10, at Challenger Columbia Stadium to bring the team to a 7-2 overall record and a 6-1 district record.
“We played really physical football and that’s what it takes to win,” Coach Craig Dailey said.
The Chargers started the game by steamrolling down the field and putting the first score on the scoreboard, courtesy of a one-yard touchdown run by Garrett Rooker (10), giving the Chargers a 7-0 lead. Later in the first quarter, Rooker found Peyton Sawyer (12) wide open in the end-zone for a 30-yard touchdown pass, extending the team’s lead to 14-0.
Following a Falcon’s score, the Chargers responded by making big plays down the field to set up a 10-yard touchdown run by Todd Hudson (11), giving the Chargers a 21-7 lead going into the half.
“We made big plays when they were needed,” Sawyer said.
After the Falcons shortened the lead to 21-20, Coach Dailey used some creativity by having Sawyer run an out-and-up, allowing him to get open for an 80-yard touchdown catch, extending the lead to 28-20.
As Hudson went down with an injury, Isaiah Bibb (10) stepped up to the plate giving the Chargers a 35-20 lead with a five-yard touchdown run.
“It’s now one week survival. We need to do everything we can to put points on the board,” Dailey said.
The Chargers will play Pearland in round one of the playoffs on November 17 at Challenger Columbia Stadium.
