The Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought back their Godly hero. Two weekends ago, Thor: Ragnarok premiered, and the box office ratings are through the roof with a worldwide amount of $650,089,707 as of November 12, and Rotten Tomatoes are rating this movie with a 93%.

The plot of this third franchise, both Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his adopted brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), God of Mischief, have to defend Asgard from Hela (Cate Blanchett), Goddess of Death, the new villain introduced in this film. Other than Hela, there will be even more new characters introduced.

This movie had the audience laughing and holding their stomach with the witty jokes and references made to other Marvel films. This third Thor movie has one of the funniest plots from the other two in the franchise, and having the big angry green monster on an alien planet made it better. It had the audience on the edge of their seats, waiting for what was going to happen next, and it had them laughing at every punch line.  

The director of this movie, Taika Waititi, really outdid himself on making sure that the audience would love and approve of this movie. Waititi actually played a new character named Corg in this film. Though Ragnarok is one of the shortest Marvel films with a run time of 2 hours and 10 minutes, it delivers the characters well.

There were many good things about this movie; however, there were also a fair share of things that could have been better, such as the computer-generated imagery. The CGI was great but it was off during certain scenes. They did a great job with the Hulk, but they could have done better on the flames or on some of the fighting scenes. The soundtrack to the movie was great; it had Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” which fits perfectly with this movie.

The actors/actresses in this movie did a great job portraying their characters. Cate Blanchett did a great job playing the villain; the way she spoke to the people who were below her and the way she walked, made Hela seem like a powerful villain. Blanchett played Cinderella’s step-mother in the live action film and she did great in that role, as well. Blanchett plays evil like no other.

There are a lot of important things that happened during the movie, like when Thor and Loki met Steven Strange, which might mean that they will meet again during The Infinity War movie. Also, Thor is not Odin’s first born because Hela actually is, and how she will bring the doom of Asgard. In addition, Odin tried to lock Hela up and how she was fighting back and killing a lot of the Valkyrie,  women warriors of Asgard who defend it from any enemies. Also, Bruce Banner being the Hulk for more than two years, ever since he left Earth on the Wingjet after The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Now that Asgard has gone to ruin, we have to see where Thor will take the Asgardians and what will happen once they get there. There were many important things that happened and a lot of different characters that were brought into this universe, and hopefully we’ll see more of them in future Marvel movies.
