The Charger football team will be moving on to the second round of the playoffs.

The team defeated Pearland by a score of 54-29 on Friday, November 19, at Challenger Columbia Stadium in the first round of the playoffs. The Chargers avenged last year’s playoff loss with a dominant showing.

Isaiah Bibb (10) showed he could be a reliable weapon replacing Todd Hudson (11) after he suffered a knee injury the week before. Bibb racked up 215 yards and three touchdowns to help the Chargers stay in control.

The team started off fast by driving down the field and finishing with a 42-yard field goal by Seth Porter (12), followed by an eight-yard score from Bibb. Peyton Sawyer (12) finished the quarter off with a 34-yard touchdown catch thrown from Garett Rooker (10).

After two more field goals from Porter, the Chargers took a 23-7 lead into the half. The team came out rolling in the second half with a score from both Rooker and Bibb.

As the oilers started losing steam, the Chargers took advantage by exposing their defensive with a 42-yard score by Bibb and a 67-yard score from Caleb Hines (9) bringing the lead to 51-14. Porter capped the game off with a field goal to bring the final score to 54-29.

The Chargers will play North Shore in the second round of the playoffs at Pasadena Memorial Stadium on Friday, November 24.
