Chef of the House, located in League City, is owned by culinary arts teacher Mrs. Kathleen Roussel and her husband, Mr. Tate Roussel. Chef of the House focuses on teaching others to cook and bake through specifically designed courses and private classes. From holiday cakes and pies to unique Spanish dishes, customers can learn to make it all. For beginners, Chef of the House offers an intro to cooking series.

“Chef of the House is a kitchen studio that offers hands on cooking classes, kids camps, parties, events and corporate team building activities,” Chef Roussel said. “We will also offer seasonal dinners and chef made-to-go items in the very near future.”

Both teachers here at Springs, Mrs. Roussel teaches culinary arts and Mr. Roussel teaches food science and coaches basketball.

“My husband Tate and I met in culinary school,” Mrs. Roussel said, “We’ve been cooking and teaching cooking classes together for the past decade. We have always dreamed of opening a space dedicated to food, and sharing our love of cooking with others.”

Chef of the House had been both a dream and a running idea for some time, yet the two needed a location. When a spot opened up in League City, they seized the opportunity. Chef of the House features a large kitchen space where many people come together at one time to learn, cook, and eat.

“I love teaching others, and I love seeing the excitement people feel when they’ve finished a meal,” Mrs. Roussel said. “Culinary skills are extremely valuable, and people can come together as a family and cook, then share a delicious meal with one another.”

Chef of the House also offers private events such as birthday parties and company events. Birthday parties offer lessons and the optional challenge dynamic, such as cupcake wars. For those with fun corporate events in mind, Chef of the House can host an Iron Chef Office competition, classes included.
