Models United Nations Club Forms
December 18, 2017
Models United Nations is known as MUN or Models UN. The club focuses on public speaking, debating, reading, and writing skills. Students compete against other schools at conferences and win awards for their school.
Lauren Bolt (11) started this first-year club and is the club’s coach. Club meetings are held every Wednesday after school in Mrs. Alisa Cunningham’s room, 2319.
“Generally, I would just make sure we get to a conference prepared, but since there are less people and the club is getting started, I am a coach for now, ” Bolt said.
Models is a club that any student can join. Lauren or Mrs. Cunningham will provide the resources and tools needed in order to excel. During meetings, members learn what to expect at an international conference. Eventually, Lauren hopes meetings will just be a time to prepare for conferences and focus on the material they will experience.
“I wanted to be better at debate and public speaking,” Meredith Granmayeh (11) said.
Speaking in front of a crowd can be nerve wracking, but students in Models make it a goal to become stronger with public speaking skills. At conferences, members go head-to-head against other schools and apply knowledge of United Nations current events.
Information for joining the club can be received from Mrs. Cunningham.
