Clear Springs Basketball Ends Season

The Charger basketball team has ended a successful season. Finishing with a regular season record of 23-11 and a district record of 10-4, The Chargers finished tied with Clear Creek for third in the district. The end of the season came with a 58-65 loss to Dawson in the first round of the playoffs.

“We went hard every day in practice,” Faite Williams (12) said.

The team went 1-1 in their last two games of the regular season including a win against Friendswood, 68-45. The Chargers started the game strong with a 37-20 lead at the half including 20 points in the first quarter and 17 points in the second quarter. Faite Williams lead the game in scoring with 27 points.

“We won games because we worked together as a team,” Kyle Burt (11) said.

The last regular season game was played at Clear Lake High School were the Chargers were defeated, 72-88. The Chargers fell behind in the first half but ended the game well with a 25 point fourth quarter. Four players on the team scored more than 10 points including, Faite Williams with 15 points, Christian Waller (12) with 14 points, Marcus Williams (10) with 11 points, and Terrance Woodson (11) with 10 points.

“We tried, we fought, and it didn’t go our way,” Coach Hairfield said.

The Chargers season came to an end as the team lost their first-round playoff game, 58-65, against Dawson. The Chargers battled throughout the entire game but ultimately fell due to 7-for-20 performance from the free throw line, including 1-for-6 during the fourth quarter. Faite Williams led the Chargers with 20 points along with Marcus Williams with 12 points and four rebounds. Other notable scorers were Tylan Jackson (12) with nine points and five rebounds, Christian Waller with nine points, Woodson with five points and four rebounds, and Burt with three points. The Chargers showed great resilience throughout the season and have made the entire school proud.
