Senior Art Show: Congratulations to the following art seniors for representing CSHS at the CCISD Senior Art Show on display at UHCL–Seth Hall – First Place; Jazzmin Jara – Second Place; Han Vu – Honorable Mention; Lillian Plumlee – Honorable Mention
Vet Tech
Our Vet Team won 1st at Area contest and will be advancing to state! Karissa Murdock placed 1st overall, Annette Demartinos and Kristy Head tied for 8th overall, and Madison Moore placed 37th out of over 300 students!
Senior Art Awards
The Senior Art Awards judge had nothing but compliments for the work shown in the show. The following students were recognized:

French
Congratulations to 11 Clear Springs students for winning Honorable Mentions in the French National Contest “Le Grand Concours”.
The online test is administered by the National Association of Teachers of French and assesses students French listening and reading skills.

Girls’ Track
Ashley Villanueva placed 2nd, Rylee Dallison placed 3rd, and Ashton Villanueva placed 4th in the pole vault to advance to the Regional track and field meet for the Lady Chargers. Jazz’mon Anderson placed 5th in the 300 Hurdles, Kathryn Johnson placed 6th in the discus, and the 4×200 meter relay team of Dana Williams, Sy’mone Siverand, Morgan Guillory, and Keeteria Hentz also placed sixth at the Area Championship meet. Regional track meet will be next Friday and Saturday in Humble.
Orchestra
The CSHS Symphony Orchestra received Excellent and Superior ratings at their first ever UIL Contest. They brought home a plaque for a Superior in Sight reading. Chamber II and Philharmonic Orchestras received Excellent and Superior ratings at UIL Contest. Both groups received a plaque for Superiors in sight reading.
Girls’ Soccer
Congratulations to our Girls’ Soccer program. While the season has ended, they did a remarkable job. Congrats to both the students and coaches!!
Regional UIL Contest
Freshman Noah Falk placed 5th in Editorial Writing at the Regional UIL Academic Meet this past Saturday at Cypress Woods High School. Congratulations Noah and the Clear Springs High School Journalism program.
Indoor Drumline
Congratulations to the Indoor Drumline as they placed 4th at State Championships this weekend. The Drumline competed against 21 other groups from around the state and even received 1st overall in Visual Performance. This is the first year the drumline has competed at the state level in 4 years! Way to go drumline.
Girls’ Track
Lady Charger Track and field placed 1st in the Junior Varsity Division at the District Championship meet. Individual/ Relay Champions were: 4×200 Relay (Dana Williams, Ameire Johnson-Bordelon, Colbrina Flowers, and Ashlynn Young-Weaver), and Pole Vault( Brianna Kouba). 2nd place finishers: Ashlynn Young-Weaver (100 M. Dash), Dana Williams (200 M. Dash), Lauren Hinojosa (300 Hurdles), Niya Johnson( Long Jump), Bailey Ray (Pole Vault), Tatum Estrada (High Jump), Zoe Smith (Discus), the 4×400 M. Relay (Julia Westfahl, Kirsen Fuqua, Lauren Hinojosa, and Muskan Swati), and the 4×100 M. Relay (Dana Williams, Ameire Johnson-Bordelon, Colbrina Flowers, and Ashlynn Young-Weaver. 3rd place finishers: Colbrina Flowers (100 M. Dash), Amerie Johnson-Bordelon (Long Jump & Triple Jump), Lauren Amos (High Jump), and Macie Alston (Pole Vault). The Varsity team placed 4th in District led by District champion Ashley Villanueva (pole vault). 3rd place finishers included: the 4×2 Relay (Morgan Guillory, Sy’mone Siverand, Kenadee Poye, and Keeteria Hentz, Kathryn Johnson (Discus), Kenadee Poye (Triple Jump), and Rylee Dallison (Pole Vault). Charger Track & Field will compete in the Area Championship meet Thursday, April 19th.
Robonauts Win Lone Star South: The CCISD Robonauts, consisting of students from 6 of our high schools, competed in Pasadena this past weekend and WON the Lone Star South Competition. They also were awarded the Excellence in Engineering Award from the judges. Congratulations, Robonauts! Good Luck at the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP event at George R. Brown next week.
Texas French Symposium: The following students were finalists at the Texas French Symposium (State UIL French competition)–
Starr Liwag: 2nd place Listening Comprehension, 6th place Civilisation, dictation, and semifinalist for poetry.
Peter Woo: 2nd place for piano solo
Chloe Rytting: 2nd place Pencil/charcoal
Harrison Ngo: 6th place for vocabulary

Clear Springs bocce ball team won first place and the Chalk Art contest team won 3rd place.
Robonauts: The CCISD Robonauts won their regional competition this past weekend in Denver. They also won the Creativity award.

Wrestling
Congratulations to Senior, Kyle Kretzer. This past weekend he wrestled in the High School National Tournament in Virginia Beach. He earned All-American Status by placing 5th at the tournament.
Girls Soccer: Congratulation to our girls soccer team for clinching the district championship on Friday night, undefeated for the second consecutive year. The Bi-District Round of the State Play-offs will be Thursday March 29 against Dawson at THE RIG, 7:30 PM start.
Vet Science
Last Wednesday students attended a double header in the Dallas area where our team placed 1st at both. They then went to Stephenville and competed at the largest practice contest in the state, where our team placed 2nd out of 266 teams. They wrapped up on Saturday at the Blinn contest where they placed 5th.
Our junior advisor, Kristy Head placed 2nd and 3rd individually the first day of contests and placed 6th Thursday and Friday. Thursday her 6th place was out of 1020 students.
Other top members were Annette Demartinos and Karissa Murdock who placed top 20 at most contests.
French–The French students competed in the Texas French Symposium on March 23 – March 24 at The Woodlands High School. Congratulations to Clear Springs students for their success at the Texas French Symposium (State French UIL competition).

The Lady Charger JV team won their fifth consecutive team title by placing first in the Clear Springs JV Invitational meet. First place finishes included: Amerie Bordelon (Long Jump & Triple Jump), Tatum Estrada (High Jump), Lauren Hinojosa (300 Hurdles), Ashlynn Young-Weaver (100 M. Dash), and Brianna Kouba (Pole Vault). Second places finishes were: Dana Williams (200 meter dash), Dana Williams, Ameire Bordelon, Tatum Estrada, and Ashlynn Young-Weaver(4×100 M. relay team),Trinity Bradley (100 Hurdles),Niyah Johnson (Long Jump), and Bailey Ray (Pole Vault). Third place finishes included: Zoe Smith (Discus), Hannah Lee, Ameire Bordelon, Tatum Estrada, and Dana Williams (4x200M. relay team), Ameire Bordelon (200 meter dash), Julia Westfahl, Vennila Satheesh, Lauren Hinojosa, and Muskan Swati (4x400M. relay team), and Niyah Johnson (Triple Jump).
Ashley Villanueva placed 1st in the pole vault, Kathryn Johnson placed 2nd in the discus, Kenedee Poye placed 2nd in the triple jump, and Ashton Villanueva placed 3rd in the pole vault at the annual Varsity Charger Relays.
Boys’ Golf
Varsity Charger golf claimed the 2018 Region Preview golf tournament for the second straight year at Eagle Pointe golf course. Leading the team was Andre Jacobs shooting rounds of 70-71 for second place overall. Francois Jacobs had strong rounds of 75-72, followed by Alex Welch 76-74, Niko Nebout 78-73 and Jacob Hern 82-78. The team beat 23 of the best teams in the Region and will be playing its next tournament at Moody Gardens April 2-3 which will be the District Championships.
Girls Water Polo: The Girls Water Polo team took 2nd place this weekend at the Wyatt Earp Shootout.
PLTW Engineering: Congratulations to all 5 PLTW EDD Engineering teams who became national finalists in the 2018 Hunch Design and Prototyping Competition hosted by NASA.
Houston Rodeo Art Auction: Congratulations to art students who sold their artwork at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Art Auction. Eriane Austria sold her painting for $21,000 and Tristan Gonzales and Alaina Sibley both auctioned their artwork for $4000 each.
