Area Marching Contest

On Saturday, October 27th, the marching band competed in the UIL Area Marching Contest, which is the 2nd contest out of three different UIL contests. It was a final, prelim set up just like the State Contest. The top ten bands went to finals to compete for spots to go onto the State marching contest.

“It was a really great experience for us to go to area and compete with a ton of really good bands, and even bands that have won a state competition” said Jenna Limero (10).

Area helps prepare bands for the state contest, which is the most important competition they participate in.

“It’s really exciting that we got 17th because now when we go to area again we can do even better” said Marina Fick (11).

Our Marching band got 17th at prelims out of the 25 bands that participated. Sadly, they didn’t make finals but they are going to keep working to eventually get there. The Area Contest marked the end of marching season, and the start of Concert Season.
