Comedy Caberet
October 27, 2018
Friday October 26, 2018 was the first improv show of the 2018-2019 school year. The Clear Spring Improv Troupe has lost some of their veterans but have gained new part of cast.
Each year the improv class takes a vote on who they want their captains to be, and the leadership goes to the improver in there the most. This year it was Dane Wyble (12) and Miles McLendon (12).
“I am the captain of Punnywise The Clown. On my team, I have Logan Taylor (12), Kyle Eaton (12), Sebastian Jorgenson (11), Braden Milikin (10), Jacob Meadows (12), Royce Gray (10), Ethan Jordan (12), and Cindy Colato (12),” McLendon said.
Though having the same amount of cast mates, one of McLendon’s could not act in the show.
“I am the captain Prankenstein’s Monsters. On my team, I have Garrett Estes (12), Moses Dennis (11), Maya Edgu-Fry (10), Layne Williams (11), Brenden Benaquisto (10), Jake Poston (11), Durshun Shah (10), and technically Kyle Martinez (12) but he will be playing as the alternate for this ComCab since we had uneven teams,” Wyble said.
Throughout the last month in a half the improv class had been acting in different scenes such as Change or Freak-Friday to prepare for their show which was Halloween based.
“I give my team 100% chance of winning. We have been running a lot of scenes, getting warmed up, and getting our creative juices flowing. We have been practicing the format of the show and just getting ready to make it a good performance,” McLendon said.
This is McLendon’s first time being a captain of the team and this is Wyble’s second time, since he was a captain during second semester of the 2017-2018 school year.
“It is a lot of fun being captain, I like being able to lead the class, being able to lead my team to a successful performance, and I like leading the improv class in that kind of way,” McLendon said.
“Being a captain it is okay, I like it more when Rosie is in charge of the class because I feel so out of place. I don’t like telling people what to do, and it annoys me when someone isn’t doing what they have to be doing and I don’t like feeling annoyed by them because it takes the fun out of the class,” Wyble said.
Now there are many improv games that were in the show, and they were short improv games not middle length or long, because those games are reserved for their other shows.
“Some of the games that we are acting during the show will be, Change, Film Noir, Emotional Interview, Sounds Like a Song, Return Desk, Perfect Pitch, and there are many more games that we will be playing during the show that is just a small list,” McLendon said.
All in all the improv show was a great turn out, there were many people in the audience and a veteran from last year’s improv troupe showed up as well.
Come see CSI next improv show in December for great laughs and a good time!
