Girls Basketball Advances to Playoffs

The Clear Springs girls basketball team closed their 2019-2020 district season with their last game of the season against Clear Creek on Tuesday Feb. 11. Unfortunately the Chargers lost their perfect record, losing to Clear Creek in the final quarter by 3 points. After this loss the Lady Chargers remain in first place with eleven wins and one loss. The first Playoff game will be against Alief Taylor on Monday, Feb. 17 at 6pm at Dawson High School.

Since there is no school school this Monday there is no school, this throws off the routine of basketball game days with a different game time. Further concerns include home team advantages because Dawson High School is much closer to Clear Springs than it is to the opposing team, Alief Taylor, making it a Springs advantage.

Junior, Niyah Johnson says she is “very excited for playoffs  because they “played hard” this season.

The team this year, with their almost undefeated season, is relatively young, with only two starting seniors. Within the next few years as the starting sophomores and juniors gain experience there could possibly be an undefeated season in the next couple of years.
