Theatre Presents the Annual Black History Month Production

Black History Month is an annual time whereas Americans celebrate the achievements of black people throughout history. Every year, the theatre puts on a Black History Month production that includes singing and dancing.

The Charger Theatre has been doing production for Black History Month for 4 years now. This performance is special to performers not only because of the meaning behind the show but also because it’s the “last chance I have to perform with my senior friends so this production means a lot to me because of the history and friendships that we make.” said  Sophomore Chris Kovich.

This year, senior Nayelly Ortiz is the assistant director of the show.

“Personally I’m not African American but I think [Black History] means like such a great movement of inclusion and being a person of color but not necessarily African American, I want to support my other communities it being African American, Asian, Middle Eastern or whatever it may be,” Ortiz said.

Black History Month is a time to celebrate and support the African American community. Come out and see the theatre perform their production of Black History Month on February 27, 28 and 29.
