With the coronavirus taking over the world, many families are raiding stores for supplies to protect themselves. Many stores are struggling to meet the demand for items such as hand sanitizer, cleaners, produce, bottled water, and toilet paper. Many shops are limiting the number of items customers can purchase because one person will buy several items at once, limiting the amount left for others. 

Crowds are fighting to get one item in particular: toilet paper. Stores are struggling to restock fast enough because, within minutes, the shelves are bare. Senior lecturer, Dr. Zagorsky believes that “hoarding makes people feel safe,” which is why there is a panic for toilet paper. In Oregon, local police stations are telling citizens to stop calling 911 because they ran out of toilet paper. 

Grocery stores such as H-E-B, Kroger, Walmart, and Costco are constantly restocking shelves for customers. These stores have announced that they will be open under modified hours in an effort to slow down the demand for products. Customers will rip through shelves to find items and make a mess in the aisles. Supermarkets are struggling to clean up after customers and are striving to quickly move them through check-out lanes.
