STAAR testing has been canceled for the 2019-20 school year. On Monday, March 16, Governor Greg Abbott made the decision to waive our state testing due to the coronavirus. 

COVID-19 has shut down school districts and businesses all across the state of Texas and a large part of the U.S. in the hope that the community practices social distancing. COVID-19 is a new coronavirus that takes up to 14 days before the body will start to show symptoms, which is why it’s so easy to spread throughout the community.

At the moment the most susceptible to experiencing complications such as death from the novel coronavirus is the elderly and people who are immunocompromised. This is why we must practice social distancing and all school districts across Texas have been shut down and have resorted to online learning until they open up again. 

This has relieved us of the stress of having to pass the STAAR. It will also allow us to fully explore how to manage online learning while being at home.
