Top Reads of 2020

With 2020 slowly coming to an end, many people found themselves wrapped up in more books than norma. Many good pieces of literature were released this year, during the pandemic. Here is the list of the top books of 2020, according to Goodreads, a booklover’s social networking site.

Goodreads released their winners for the Goodreads Choice Awards. Winning the award for the best fiction book is “The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, this book received 72, 828 votes on Goodreads and is number 14 on the most popular books published in 2020 list posted by Goodreads. 

The non-fiction award went to “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X Kendi. The novel touches on the ideas of racism and how they arose in America. The book won the non-fiction award with 43, 685 votes. 

The Goodreads list consists of the following novels mystery and thriller:The Guest List by Lucy Foley, Historical Fiction: “The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennet, Fantasy: “The House of Earth and Bloodby Sarah J. Maas and many more. 

 Goodreads has also posted a list of the most popular books 2020. This list is compiled of novels that have been added to Goodreads the highest number of times. The number one book on this list is the winner of the Historical Fiction winner of the Goodreads Choice Awards, “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett. 

Some of the fellow Clear Springs students have read some of the books within this list. “I read ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes‘. It was really good even though I hadn’t read The Hunger Games, ” Rylee Dallison (12)said. “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” by Suzanne Collins is one of the highest anticipated novels of 2020. Collins wrote the novel as a prequel to, that tells the story of President Snow’s upbringing.
