Silverados Competition

Silverados Competition

Silverados had a very busy weekend, with having a virtual competition on Friday and an in-person competition at Moody Gardens on Saturday. Silverados have never competed two days in row until this year due to a series of unfortunate events. We were supposed to compete at Clear Lake High School the weekend of the freezing temperatures, but we obviously could not go. Luckily, it was rescheduled, and we were able to compete in our own gym and invite 5 people each, compared to other contests where we can only invite 2. It was a good thing the Clear Lake Contest was rescheduled because we felt more prepare on the later date to dance and have people, we know watch us perform. We were very proud with our performance and so was our directors, it made us feel more prepared for the next one. The next week it was time to compete at the ADTS competition in Moody Gardens, we were still a little nervous but excited to show everyone how hard we have been working. Solos/Duets and Officers dances were in the beginning of the day and 5 of our soloists placed in the top 10, Mallory Davy placed 4th and Katherine Martinez placed 6th and their duet placed 1st! Our officers placed 2nd overall with 3 dances against Clear Falls High School. Then came team dances and that’s when nerves were high, we had to dance on concrete, and we were all nervous it was going to be too slippery to execute our turns. We had 3 dances that night and had about 1 hour between each dance, so were getting pretty tired, especially the girls who were about to perform 8 dances in one night. We finished feeling even better than the night before and waited for awards to start and found out we placed high with 5th overall out of 12 teams.
