Art Car “Parade”
April 1, 2021
Last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Houston Art Car Parade was cancelled and then made virtual. While having it virtual did make up for completely not having it, the virtual experience just wasn’t the same.
This year, however, the art car experience has been reimagined to comply with COVID-19 guidelines. To reduce crowding, there will be no parade. Rather it will be a walking tour, where visitors will see 80 completely unique cars. Additionally, to follow social distancing guidelines it has been encouraged to reduce visitation to 60 to 90 minutes. There will also be a craft station for kids, food, and drinks to enjoy. The exhibit will be open May 14th, 15th, and 16th at The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Parking will be free, but is first-come first-serve.
There is going to be a night experience, too. Featuring live music, performances, illuminated Art Car Walk, art installations, costumes, and an outdoor party. This experience is much more expensive with $40 for general admission and $1000 for a VIP table.
Of course, guests are required to wear a mask. As for staff and volunteers, temperature checks will be given and sanitizing stations after transactions. Restrooms will be sanitized thoroughly.
