Attention demigods! Disney+ has officially announced that Percy Jackson and The Olympians is coming to the platform in early 2023.

Author of the hit series Rick Riordian announced on January 25th that Disney+ had greenlit the TV show, and production would move forward over the summer. Casting calls for main characters Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood have been open since early December, and those wanting to submit auditions were able to online. The show will start with the first book in the series, “The Lightning Thief”, and follow the life of half-god Percy Jackson on his quest to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt. As of now, Disney+ has not set any specific release dates, however fans believe the series to be coming sometime in early 2023.

There are two Percy Jackson movies currently out, however fans strongly disliked them. The movies were scripted without Riordian’s feedback, making the movies completely unlike the book series. Logan Lerman who played Percy Jackson in the original movies said he would “consider” joining the TV reboot as Percy’s father Poseidon. Fans have high hopes for the reboot since Rick Riordian has a say in the script this time around.
