It seems every time we go on summer break is when all the trends blow up. From movies to new music, here’s a recap of summer 2022.

Stranger Things 4

If only we could keep running up that hill back in July when Stranger Things Season 4 dropped and broke the internet. As of now, season 4 has accumulated over 1.4 billion hours of watch time. Safe to say the Stranger Things fandom is still strong.

While some were anxiously awaiting the drop of Stranger Things on July 1st, others were rushing to the theaters to see the premiere of Minions: The Rise of Gru. Social media platforms, especially TikTok, erupted in chaos celebrating the return of their favorite characters.

This new app has over 22.8 million downloads, and teens around the world are sharing candid photos with their friends. BeReal is an app where all users receive a notification at the same time, and everyone must post a picture of what they’re doing at that exact moment.

New Music

Many artists released new music this summer including Lizzo’s album “Special”, Sabrina Carpenter’s “emails i can’t send”, and Beyonce’s first album since 2019: “Renaissance”. You can’t forget the iconic singles from TikTok like, “Betty” by Yung Gravy, “Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy, and “10 Things I Hate About You” by Leah Kate.

People flooded the theaters to see Austin Butler as Elvis in the new musical and biography film, “Elvis”. The cast includes popular actors such as Tom Hanks, Dacre Montgomery, and Olivia DeJonge. The movie has gathered $155.1 million and Doja Cat’s “Vegas” has topped charts after it was featured in the movie.
