For the first time in history, water polo is a UIL sport, and on August 1st, the Clear Springs water polo team kicked off their season with their very first practice. During the last few weeks of summer, they met at the pool from 3 PM – 6 PM every weekday, and trained for their first match.

“When preparing for a game, the team plays pumped up music, and then gets in a circle to discuss what we will add to the game, and encourage each other. This helps us get in the positive game mindset so we can play our best,” said Lydia Rytting (12).

The team had their first tournament August 11th in which they won against many different schools, but ultimately lost the tournament.

“The first tournament we had this season really showed everyone how we need to be ready for everything during a game.” said Lucy Ali (10). “We won a game that day and it made everyone realize how good it feels to win and how all of the hard work pays off.”

The team’s next game is on Friday September 2nd against Clear Falls.  The game is here on campus from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. The team encourages students and staff to come cheer them on against the Knights!
