It’s that time of the year again where we recap the Grammy Awards, and this year was definitely… debatable. Hosted by Trevor Noah at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the 65th Grammy Awards generated some heated comments and opinions online. Here’s a recap of what all went down this year:

Beyonce & Harry Styles

Beyonce made history by winning 32 awards over her career, more than any other artist. However, her album Renaissance lost the “Album of the Year” title to Harry’s House which upset fans. While Harry Styles was accepting his award onstage, Beyonce fans booed and screamed out of frustration. This interaction caused a huge fan war on social media and made headlines.

50 Years of Hip-Hop

The Grammy’s celebrated 50 years of hip-hop with a ton of artists such as LL Cool J, Run DMC, Missy Elliot, Lil Baby, and more who performed a medley during the ceremony.

Kim Petras & Sam Smith

Kim Petras made history as the first transgender woman to win a Grammy alongside Sam Smith for their collaboration song “Unholy”. She dedicated the win to Madonna who had a transgender woman as her producer.

Song of the Year

Song of the Year went to Bonnie Raitt’s “Just Like That”. Many viewers were confused about the win, since Bonnie Raitt has not been on the Hot 100 since 1995. The other songs up for nomination were far more popular, and Raitt’s win has been a meme on social media. Record of the Year however went to Lizzo’s “About Damn Time”.

Taylor Swift

Taylor took home 4 awards this year for Music Video, Song, Song Written For Visual Media, and Country Song. She sported boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s jacket at the afterparty, sparking conversation online. Her album “Midnights” was not eligible for nomination this year, since it was too recently released.
