Shining at the Superbowl

During the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs Superbowl game, Rihanna graced the stage during the halftime show with an amazing performance after a 7-year hiatus. The last time she had performed live was at her Anti World tour back in 2016.

The iconic musician sung 12 of her hit songs dating from 2007-2016, each giving the audience a boost of nostalgia and the urge to start moving and grooving along with the 80 dancers on the field.

In the beginning of the show, she and the dancers were seen on hanging platforms that would ascend and descend from the ceiling. These floating stages were a blessing to ensure the quality of the field’s grass. To ensure safety for the performers, they were assured that the stadium’s trusses were strong enough to hold a freight train. According to ‘AS’ news article, 800 workers were responsible for setting the stage up and taking the stage down, all within 8 minutes.

During the transition from her song ‘Pour It Up’ to ‘All of the Lights’, she had taken 5 seconds to ‘adjust’ her makeup to endorse her makeup business, ‘FENTY BEAUTY.’

Prior to the halftime show, Rihanna had announced she would be bringing a special guest along to perform with her. Many viewers were curious as to what she meant after watching, until it was officially announced that Rihanna was pregnant for the second time. During the show, many fans didn’t want to jump to conclusions.

Overall, it was surprising to hear Rihanna would be returning to the spotlight during a huge event like the Superbowl. As a result of her performance at the halftime Superbowl she’s gained many new listeners on Apple and Spotify music services along with many new fans.
