As we continue through 2023, more and more films are being announced and released. Here’s a few major movies coming to theaters in the next few months.

Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 2023)

Mario, Princess Peach, and Toad go on a dangerous quest to stop the evil Bowser from conquering the world. This magical movie was set to release on Good Friday, but was pushed back to April 5th. The film features Chris Pratt, Chris Day, Anna Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and more. Prepare for an exciting animated film of your favorite Mario Bros!

The Little Mermaid (May 2023)

Disney’s next live action adaptation coming to theaters is “The Little Mermaid” on May 26th. Starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, this movie is very anticipated. The movie has already created controversy among Disney fans, with some degrading and some defending Halle Bailey as Ariel. “As a Black person, you just expect it and it’s not really a shock anymore,” Halle Bailey said. 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 2023)

Marvel fans rejoice, because Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is coming to screens on May 5th. The movie follows Peter Quill who leads the Guardians on a mission to protect Rocket and his past. Grab your popcorn and prepare for a journey of emotions.

Barbie (July 2023)

Another huge drop coming July 21st is the live action adaptation of Barbie. Margot Robbie stars as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, while also featuring Will Ferrell, Micheal Cera, and more. The film follows Barbie and Ken living their “perfect” life until they have an existential crisis they must resolve. If you were like most kids in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, you’re probably fangirling over this future film. 

The Haunted Mansion (July 2023)

Another live adaptation from Disney coming July 28th is “The Haunted Mansion”. The cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Owen Wilson, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Danny Devito, Tiffany Haddish, and more. The plot follows single mom Gabbie who hires a group of people to exorcise their new mansion that is inhabited by ghosts. With all these incredible actors, this movie has to be amazing.
