Similar to a high school class, with that one student that brings down everything and makes it harder to learn, there can also be that coworker that creates a Toxic Work environment.
When working a toxic work environment, some may notice that negativity is built into the culture or maybe it’s expected to happen while working. Some of these negatives can result to workers becoming mentally exhausted, also known as burnout, which then leads to losing motivation to work efficiently. Burn out can even cause extra levels of stress which can cause sickness.
A lifeguard that attends Clear Springs talks about her job is about taking pride and having a sense of togetherness, but she feels that it lacks in that department. She often feels uncomfortable that her coworkers get away with doing less work and offending others. This type of environment has affected her so much she doesn’t even bother showing up to the team-bonding events.
It’s so hard to enjoy working long hours with toxic coworkers in a place with toxicity built into the culture of the environment.
Looking out for the details that make a Toxic work environment can save you and others from dealing with that negativity. Report anything that could be considered negative. For example, a manager making cruel remarks towards their workers or workplace gossip. If reporting the source of the problem doesn’t work out, it may be smart to go where the money is greener and the air is cleaner.
Some workers already aren’t making enough money to feed themselves in today’s economy, they shouldn’t have to be victims of a toxic work environment to add onto that.
