In a fiery blaze former Chief and founder of private mercenary group Yevgeny Prigozhin died while flying near Moscow. Criminal investigation has been launched.
On August 23, 2023, Yevgeny Prigozhin the leader of Wagner group who staged a mutiny in June, was among the 10 people killed in a plane crash. He was confirmed dead on Sunday when genetic testing showed the people in the plane crash matched the list of passengers on board the plane. The confirmation put days of speculation to an end. A day after the crash, President Putin spoke to the victims’ families and offered his condolences.
The U.S. says the most likely cause of the crash was an explosion on board, they also suggested the idea that President Putin ordered the attack, the kremlin has denied anything to do with the crash. Prigozhin led an armed mutiny a couple days before the fiery crash.Â
