There has been a significant rise in crime in the Houston area and here are a few recent instances of domestic violence and shootings.
Domestic Violence
On October 2nd near Eastex freeway a man who was getting a divorce with his wife showed up at her house at her house, fired multiple shots and killed her. The police were unable to apprehend him, and he is still on the run.
Around 1 day later, a fight ensued between a father and son that resulted in the father hospitalized due to blunt force trauma. He later died.
In response to the astonishing increase of Domestic violence in Houston, Houston Area Women’s center assured people that there are experts available 24/7 for victims who are ashamed and afraid and need safety from the violence.
Shooting
In the same vicinity In Cypressbrook Drive a shooting occurred involving seven people. The shooter was Devin Grantom, who killed his wife Courtney Grantom and his mother Deborah Ann Grantom. Devin and Courtney Grantom were in the middle of a divorce when the situation escalated and several others who inadvertently shot as things got out of control. The police detained Devin at the scene.
To try to decrease the amount of domestic violence and shootings, the Houston’s area Women’s center has made its resources available to anyone who is in a desperate situation.
