Gen Z is aging like milk, and much faster than previous generations. Longevity experts are blaming extreme amounts of stress, their consumption of fast and processed foods, and an overall lack of purpose in life. Jordan Howlett believes that they often look older than millennials due to being ‘chronically online’ and depressed.
Due to inflation and trying to hold a steady income, Gen Z is stressing in finding what they want to do for their long-term careers and feeling the immense pressure to succeed before they turn 30. Gen Z grew up surrounded by the internet and social media from an early age. On social media you end up comparing yourself to others, causing more stress to be put on the person.
Ways to get rid of stress are exercising and sleep, however Gen Z has a lack of sleep and exercise caused by the internet and blue lights from screens. Exposure to stress damages the DNA in cells, causing premature wrinkles and sagging creates the illusion of appearing much older than you actually are.
Another reason for seeming to age faster, this generation vapes more than any other. Nicotine makes your skin and other parts of your body seem to look older. It gives you premature wrinkles and sagging as well as dry skin by narrowing blood vessels and reducing blood flow to the skin. Inhaling nicotine also makes acne and eczema worse, therefore causing numerous breakouts to possibly occur.
