Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is a six-week religious fast celebrated before Easter, traced back to European carnivals during the 17th and 18th centuries. Mardi Gras is one of the most famous festivals worldwide, especially in New Orleans. It’s unique Mardi Gras custom in which the city celebration is renowned in the United States.
During Mardi Gras it is estimated that around 1 million people take part in the New Orleans iconic Parades and festivals. In the past few years, the celebration has been growing with more people attending given how Mardi Gras events were canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thankfully, the Mardi Gras events have made its return in 2022, which had many people excited and ready to attend the festivals. Mardi Gras date changes quite a lot every year and this year Mardi Gras will be held on February 13th.
