The summer 2024 Olympics brought a combined 30.6 million views across all NBCU platforms, such as Peacock. The NBCU viewership had an increase of 82% jump in viewership compared to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 making this year the most streamed Olympics of all time. Both Peacock and NBCU drew a combine 4.1 million daily viewers over the period of this year’s summer Olympics.
This year’s Olympics featured the USA and France basketball teams compete in the finals for the gold medal. The men’s game had an average of 20.3 million viewers on both NBCU and Peacock making, this the most watched gold medal game since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Other gold medal features are the USA women winning 65% of all gold medals.
The Paralympics began began August 28 and end September 8 with record breaking ticket sales. These events can be streamed on Peacock.
