Haunted houses and parties aren’t the only ways to celebrate this Halloween. On October 31st, the company that brought the world a grocery store that harvests human essence and a mansion that warps time and space to hide its inhabitants’ secrets is opening a brand-new exhibit right here in Houston.
Meow Wolf is known for Omega Mart, a Las Vegas grocery store built on a tear in reality with ties to a now extinct alien civilization and the original location in Santa Fe, the first of the immersive art experiences that launched the phenomenon.
In Las Vegas, the store itself has an in-depth story that guests must work together to figure out as well as actual products, like tattooed chicken or whale song deodorant, that shoppers can buy. Its somewhat lesser known but no less intriguing House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe, New Mexico, also has a dedicated following. While it exists in the same world as Omega Mart, the two stories are not directly connected. Instead of a corporate drama, the house’s secrets center on the disappearance of one member of the family who lived there and its relation to “The Anomaly”.
The new exhibit, Radio Tave, promises to have the same interdimensional ties. According to the official website, it tells the story of a producer making the set of a music video for an egotistical pop star. The site also advertises a colorful dive bar for visitors of legal drinking age. For now, not much information is available. But given Meow Wolf’s unique history, it is definitely worth a visit.
