Making a fast approach to Earth, the rare comet known as C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, first discovered in 2023, is now going to be seen striking across the sky during the month of October.
The comet is about 2 miles in length and its tail stretches out for millions of miles and will be around 44 million miles close to the Earth. It will appear on the western horizon about 45 minutes after sunset starting on October 12th to the end of the month according to Bill Cooke. Every day the comet will be higher in the sky as it moves away from the sun.
Cooke also said that you will be able to see the comet without a need for equipment such as a telescope, but you will see the comet best with a pair of binoculars.
After this appearance, the comet won’t be seen for around 80,000 years and there is currently not supposed to be another comet visible in the future, so make sure you get a glimpse of it before the end of the month.
