The NBA All-Star Weekend has wrapped up, highlighting the new All-Star system introduced this year. The weekend kicked off with the Rising Stars event, where the winning team out of four secured a spot in Sunday’s main event.
Saturday night was packed with excitement, featuring the Skills Challenge, the Three-Point Contest, and the Dunk Contest. The Skills Challenge was first, with Cleveland Cavaliers’ dynamic duo Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell dominating the event.
Next up was the Three-Point Contest, where players showcased their shooting skills. Damian Lillard was extremely close to a three-peat but ultimately fell short to the new champion, Tyler Herro.
After the Three-point contest, the much-anticipated dunk contest ended in a three-peat, with reigning champion Mac McClung taking the trophy home once again after a showdown with rising starts MVP Stephon Castle
On Sunday night, the NBA unveiled their new All-Star game format, which received mixed reviews. Many people found the new format uninteresting and felt it was completely unnecessary.
The new system featured a tournament with four teams, each playing to 40 points instead of a full game. The final matchup was between Shaq’s OG team and Chuck’s Global Stars. In the end, Shaq’s OG team emerged victorious with a final score of 42-25.
