What were the top songs that students listened to in September?

1. I Am Fine by BTS

A song with a bright beat and uplifting melody, I’m fine is the story of someone trying to get over a past relationship trying to convince themselves that they are fine. Serenedy Alcaraz (10) says the song “hits home for [her] because [BTS] is telling each other that they are fine, but they’re really not. They’re trying to put up a façade for their fans.” BTS, one of many Korean Pop or K-Pop groups, is the breakout group of the summer. Alcaraz says BTS is “very much different from other K-Pop groups,” because “their personalities are great.”

2. Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer

Averie Bares (10) calls this popular hit “a bop.” The title track from their new album, Youngblood is a nostalgia drenched song about being young and reckless. Bares said this is her favorite song because “this is the first song [5 Seconds of Summer has] released in three years.” This song marks the Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer’s comeback after a three-year hiatus. They originally gained popularity in the United States with the single “She Looks So Perfect” in 2014. Bares said likes the band because “they don’t stand and dance, they’re like an actual band.

3. If Walls Could Talk by 5 Seconds Of Summer

“If Walls Could Talk” is another upbeat song from 5 Seconds of Summer’s new album, Youngblood. Bianca Martinez (10) said this is her current favorite song.
