The city council just approved the purchase of four new generators for key facilities across the city. The generators were purchased through FEMA and the federal government.
Since the winter storm, Uri, the city council realized that the current infrastructure cannot support the storms we’ve been receiving in recent years. A $515,000 contract was approved to fund emergency generators at support facilities like hometown hero’s and Helen Hall library; the generators will also be given the water and waste services to keep maintenance going through storms.
There are still some remaining issues that need to be sorted out before any real action can be taken; however, the project should be completed before the end of this year.
