Have you felt or tasted anything wrong with your tea recently? Recently there has been a discovery of vinegar eels found in a tea called kombucha. Besides them being very disturbing and disgusting. They are completely harmless, and you do not have to worry about your life being in danger. Vinegar eels are technically not eels, but something called “Turbartix Aceti” a non-parasitic nematode mostly found in unpasteurized vinegar and measuring around 2 mm in length. However, if you are worried about drinking kombucha tea there is a way of identifying your tea to check to see if it has vinegar eels inside of it. A way to see if you have vinegar eels inside of your tea is to take your brew and a flashlight. Then inside a dark room, shine your flashlight into your brew because the reason why this method is effective is because it attracts all the eels to the side of the light. If you are wondering how you can get rid of these eels, it is best if you just get rid of the batch and start again because once they start to develop, they are almost impossible to get rid of.
